Before your next lap

A few things to know before your first Trackside session.

Is Trackside free, and what does Pro include?

Recording is free and unlimited, including lap timing, live delta, and post-session analysis. Pro adds AI coaching, direct camera import, video export, reference-video comparison, full lap-data sharing, and AI assistant connections.

Do I need a Porsche or an external GPS receiver?

No. Record with your iPhone in any car, or connect a supported RaceBox or Dragy receiver. Compatible Porsches and Bluetooth OBD readers add vehicle telemetry.

Can I use Porsche telemetry and external GPS together?

Yes. Record with a compatible Porsche and a supported RaceBox or Dragy receiver together. Use external GPS for position and speed, alongside the car’s available throttle, brake, steering, and other telemetry.

Does Trackside work with Apple CarPlay?

Yes. View lap timing and delta, set session conditions, and start and stop recordings from CarPlay. Set up your car and recording source on your iPhone first.

How do I connect ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI platform?

With Pro, enable MCP Server in Settings → Account Data and allow your sessions to sync. Connect the Trackside plugin in ChatGPT using the same Apple account. For Claude and other compatible platforms, connect to the MCP server address shown in Trackside.

Which session files can I import?

Import VBOX, Dragy Lap, Track Precision, Catalyst, and other supported telemetry files. Use VBO exports for RaceBox and Dragy Lap. Read the Catalyst export guide.

Can I use my action camera?

Yes. Record with your iPhone or control supported GoPro, DJI, and Insta360 cameras. Sync footage to your telemetry. With Pro, import footage directly from supported GoPro and DJI cameras and export videos with telemetry overlays.

Can I compare my lap against a YouTube video?

Yes. With Pro, sync a YouTube reference video to your lap by track position and compare with a live time delta.

Can I track tire usage?

Yes. Log tire changes and see how many recorded sessions and track days each set has covered.

Can I compare laps with friends?

Yes. Add friends to compare personal bests on private leaderboards and share full lap data.

Where does my session data go?

Recordings stay on your device. Optionally sync sessions through iCloud, share laps with friends, or connect an AI assistant. You can export your data at any time. Read the privacy policy for details.
